How To Install Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy Note N5100 – official XXCMH1 firmware

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 3G variant has been entered in the home of Android 4.2.2 with a software update, Android 4.2.2 update is bringing out many useful features to support your busy life such as widgets for lock screen, status bar toggles, better task switcher, screensaver mode for daydream and much more.

Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy Note 8.0 is started from Germany and we hope that Samsung will cover the whole world soon in near future but if you cannot wait or don’t have ability to update device officially with OTA notification or KIES, simply download and install it manually using Odin.

Read on how to install Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy Note 8.0 3G manually. You need a a Windows PC with USB tablet drivers installed and make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data. Do not forget to disable system tools on computer such as antivirus and KIES as they can disturb installation.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Android 4.2.2 N5100XXCMH1 firmware for Galaxy Note 8.0 3G from here to your computer.

Step #2: Get the Odin3 from downloaded zip file.

Step #3: Unzip downloaded zip file into a folder.

Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and fire up Odin3 v3.04.exe file.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons.

Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate N5100XXCMH1_N5100OXACMH1_DBT_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 3. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation is done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then turn off tab for a few seconds. Then reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again).

Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, when screen turns on, leave power button but not volume down until you enter in recovery mode. In recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the phone.
